The rotor is the heart of the EvapCare-W wiped film evaporator, ensuring even liquid film formation, constant mixing, and fouling prevention. Sulzer offers three different rotor types, each designed to meet specific process challenges and feed characteristics. Selecting the right rotor enhances performance, reduces maintenance, and guarantees longer equipment life.
Type L: Rigid Blade Rotor
Type L features several rigid blades with a fixed, well-defined clearance from the heated shell. This design is robust and effective for general continuous evaporation with consistent feedstocks. It ensures a steady, uniform film thickness and is ideal for applications where fouling is moderate and operational conditions are stable.
Type P: Hinged Wiper Blade Rotor
The Type P rotor incorporates hinged wiper blades that swing outward under centrifugal force, actively wiping the heated shell surface. This dynamic wiping motion is highly effective in preventing fouling and scaling, making it suitable for feeds prone to deposit formation or polymerization. It offers reliable performance in more demanding, fouling-prone operations.
Type R: Rotating Roller Rotor
Type R rotors use rotating rollers that adjust automatically to different film thicknesses, providing precise control over liquid distribution. This innovation adapts to varying feed viscosities and evaporation conditions, optimizing heat transfer while minimizing fouling risks. This type is excellent for challenging processes requiring high flexibility and product quality control.
Making Your Choice
The right rotor depends on your product's viscosity, fouling tendencies, and thermal sensitivity. Sulzer’s experts conduct pilot testing and simulations to recommend the optimal rotor type, ensuring your evaporator delivers peak performance, longevity, and compliance with production requirements.
